Amazon Kindle (v2) collection manager not working?

Ever since I got my kindle last christmas, I've noticed that the collections manager does not really work. I can put books into collections, but it does not remove them from my home page, so it clutters up my screen even more. My friend's kindle does not do this so yeah, it's kind of annoying, Any ideas?
