How come harry easily believed to severus snape's tale?

He didn't. But by giving him the benefit of the doubt by viewing his memories other evidence backed up his stories. Such as the silver doe. Also I thought that thoughts couldn't be fabricated realistically? I don't know, but I LOVE that plot twist. Especially Snape's death, it was so bittersweet.
